Yoga therapy widens the focus to you as a whole being, rather than only the narrow focus on the symptoms of your ailment or concern. It acknowledges that our physical, mental, and emotional experiences are deeply connected, and that challenges rarely arise in isolation.
Yoga therapy utilises solutions that have been tried and tested for thousands of years, and couples them with a knowledge of contemporary scientific understandings in neuro psychology, the nervous system and anatomy.
It can compliment traditional Western therapeutic interventions such as physiotherapy and counselling.
Yoga therapy is an inclusive, aproach to support life's challenges and help you come back to a feeling of health and balance. You may benefit if you have (but are not limited to) the following:
Chronic pain
Chronic health issues such as asthma, digestive issues, circulation issues, joint pain and arthritis, auto immune disorders
Emotional and mental health challenges such as depressiion, anxiety, PTSD and OCD
Postpartum needs whether it's physical or emotional
Stress and burnout
The yoga therapy process involves a chat or consultation, an assessment and then the commencement of sessions, tailored to your needs.
See below for more understanding of this process. I ask you to complete a questionnaire before the initial assessment.
A collaborative process focused on understanding your unique body, patterns, and needs
What to expect in a yoga therapy assessment?
Face to face
A discussion about your relevant history, lifestyle and patterns
Structural and energetcic assessment- I will look. and sometimes touch with permission, to understand the mechanics of your body, where you may be holding tension and understand better where you may be blocked energetically
Movement and breath awarness- an opportunity to meet you exactly where you are, without trying to force anything
Feedback from myself as to where you are at now and where I would be able to help you be, through working with me.
An assessment is a 90 minutes comphrensive intervention and comes with an investment of £75.
Yoga therapy is different from a yoga class or private lesson. It is a personalised therapeutic approach that blends ancient yogic wisdom with modern science, working towards a shared intention.
My work is informed by neuroscience, the nervous system and anatomy, alongside traditional yogic models such as the pancha kosha model, the chakra system, kleshas, gunas, pranavayus and doshas.
Sessions take place in a calm, supportive space, with lighting, temperature and sound adapted to your needs.
I am trauma-informed and work in a person centered way.
Each session is unique and may include movement, breathwork, meditation or visualisation, and guided relaxation.
Yoga therapy sessions are one-to-one, tailored to you, and last 60 minutes. The investment is £60.
